LinksXY Online XY is a website focused on men, masculinities, and gender politics. XY is a space for the exploration of issues of gender and sexuality, the daily issues of men's and women's lives, and practical discussion of personal and social change. OrbviousThis blog is intended to raise awareness for the families and in particular the children that are being systematically abused by 'Social welfare authorities' around the world and in our particular case by the Australian family court system. Please take some time to read and become aware of the corruption and dishonesty faced by one family in their fight to protect their children from abuse. power4parentspower4parents.org is the brain child of a self employed Gold Coast mother of 5 who found herself on the wrong side of DoCS through no fault of her own. After investigating everything to do with her situation, she found that not only were there problems with the Child Protection Act 1999 but that there is an alarming rate of problems throughout Australia with DoCS officers and DoCS workers. She decided that since not much was available online for parents in her position, she would begin a site herself to help and inform other parents who are also struggling with the Department of Child Safety. Through the use of this site, she hopes that parents can be informed, encouraged, supported and find various ways of empowering and helping themselves get through their ordeals. One voice can evolve into many... We hope this information will help women to negotiate safety for themselves and their children. However, we acknowledge that there needs to be important changes in how domestic violence, child protection and family law issues are dealt with to improve the safety of women and children Currently, women face many problems when escaping domestic violence and child abuse. The research indicates that survivors of violence and abuse begin recovery when their exposure to danger has stopped and they are able to re-establish safety. However, since the criminal justice, child protection and family law systems leave women exposed to this violence and abuse, they are placed in the difficult position of being unable to focus on recovery and safety. In fact, when mothers are trying to negotiate their own and their children's safety they are put at more risk as these systems fail to provide a safe environment for this to take place. Resources and approaches need to be further developed and made accessible to improve responses to the needs of women and their children when subjected to violence and abuse. The National Abuse Free Contact Campaign has been developed in partnership with the Women's Safety After Separation project. Supported by a coalition of interested groups, individuals and organisations, this campaign seeks to address the issues that women and their children face when escaping violence and abuse. Battered Mothers Custody ConferenceBattered Women, Abused Children, and Child Custody: A National Crisis was created in 2003 by two mothers, Mo Therese Hannah, Ph.D. (Chair) of Latham, NY, and Liliane Heller Miller (Vice-Chair) of Charlotte, NC. Our on-going goal is to host a national public forum to address the many complex issues facing battered women and their advocates as they strive to protect themselves and their children in and out of family court. The format of the conference continues to develop, along with the growing body of scholarly research and information documenting the rampant civil, legal, due process, and human rights violations of domestic violence victims and their children by family courts across the country. It includes presentations, round-table discussions, and question & answer sessions with nationally distinguished attorneys, researchers, writers, and mental health professionals, as well as domestic violence survivors and their children. We also seek to foster healing and support for the thousands of mothers, children, attorneys and other supporting professionals whose lives are being adversely affected by this issue on a daily basis. Battered Women, Abused Children, and Child Custody: A National Crisis is a self-sustaining, grassroots phenomenon that is entirely the volunteer work product of it's creators and presenters. We have no paid staff, nor are we financially supported by or affiliated with any particular group, organization, gender-based ideology, or political agenda. The conference is open to lay persons and is of special interest to advocates, social workers, psychologists, attorneys, judges, legal personnel, and others concerned with the civil, constitutional, and human rights violations of battered women and their children occurring in family courts nationwide. Mothers For JusticeWe are the campaigning 'voice' for everyone who has suffered an injustice with the corrupt judiciary system. We endeavor, through our campaigns to bring out into the open the appalling number of injustices (particularly) those relating to child access issues. Mothers protecting their children from violent, abusive fathers are being imprisoned.
